VIEW: FINDING SHELTER

On March 16, the Bay Area became the first metropolitan area in the country to shut down because of COVID-19. While the public waited for a return to normalcy, the idea of sitting idle was not a reality for students at San Francisco State University. Our team of journalists documented their experiences on the front lines of the pandemic.

Balancing the stress and workload of being full-time students was already complicated. COVID-19 amplified it. We are workers, caretakers, athletes and storytellers, and we turned the cameras on ourselves to share our stories to show the many ways people are handling this difficult time of uncertainty.

Finding Shelter was produced for the class Journalism 395 (Online Journalism). Students build websites and produce reporting that is published on the Newsworx.org platform, which has won multiple awards in the Hearst Multimedia Contest.
